  Visas

Kuwait exercises a visa system for all foreign visitors, and a residency system for expatriates working in Kuwait.

VISITS

A visit visa is required to travel to Kuwait and must be obtained and a copy available prior to traveling to Kuwait. A visit visa can be obtained by: 

  • Application from a family member, resident in Kuwait.

  • Application from a Company registered in Kuwait.

  • 5* hotel, providing you stay at the hotel during your visit.

  • Kuwait Embassies 

WORKING

A working expatriate must obtain a work visa, followed by residency formalities in order to legally work in Kuwait.  The following procedure is required to be completed:

Passport Copies - Apply for Work Visa           3 working days                                              

Work Permit - It would take a week to process the Work Entry Permit from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour. 

5 working days

NOC (No objection) Work Visa - Process the NOC work visa at the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Interior, depending on the nationality.  Some nationalities are difficult to obtain an NOC.

1-7 working days

Kuwait Embassy - The prospective employee should then check with the Kuwait Embassy or Consulate abroad to process his formalities including medical test and the visa will be stamped in the Embassy or Consulate.   

2 -10 days depending on the candidates location. The candidate can then enter Kuwait.

Work Permit - Upon entry to Kuwait, the Work Permit should take one business day.

Finger printing and medical test and results.

5 working days

Residency Stamp onto his passport.  This includes the time needed to process his formalities with the Ministry of Health.

1 working day

Civil ID - Application for Kuwait Civil ID card

1-4 working days

Driving Licence - Apply for driving license if necessary.

5-14 working days

If the person is already resident in Kuwait and transferable, then the time period would be reduced to a maximum of one week.
