Accommodation Expatriates
have to rent accommodation, and rental prices are standard for the Middle East. Apartment complexes range considerably from purpose built
expatriate compounds, apartment buildings, to Kuwaiti residential villas (whole
or floors rented). Likewise rental
prices range considerably from executive type complexes near to the Central
Business District (CBD), to budget apartments and studios near to the
refineries. Once again, there is
enough variety in the Kuwait property market, to find accommodation that suits
your budgetary and lifestyle requirements.
Estate
agents are readily available to find accommodation that you want, they tend to
be frustrating and can become over zealous in trying to find you a place to
stay. If you use an agent to find
accommodation, it advisable to make sure they are aware of what price to look
for and which areas you are interested in, or else they will cover a large area.
Agents will drive you around until you find a place, however their fees
are usually ½ or 1 months rent when you sign the lease agreement.

agreements are usually standard and contain the following standard areas,
however some real estate companies may attempt to use their own contract which
may bind you to additionally conditions, so be aware of this and always look to
enter into the standard agreement:
Normal
rent agreement:
- Arabic
and English (Arabic takes precedence)
- Monthly
Rent Price stated clearly.
- Payment
terms ( Monthly, 3 monthly etc.)
- Responsibility
of utility bills (usually the owners responsibility ie. Included in rent).
- Notice
Period (usually 30 days written notice).
