There are no customs duties on food, agricultural items or essential consumer goods, and therefore high quality supermarket
produce is available at a very reasonable cost. More specific products and imported produce tends to be more expensive,
and you can expect to pay approximately 10% more than you would in your own country. However the range of produce is
generally excellent within the large supermarket stores. The Sultan Centre, a private supermarket chain, is definitely the best
for variety especially for imported produce, and the local Co-operative societies are excellent value using where possible
local / Middle eastern produce.
